The Pin-Up Art of Humorama
The Pin-Up Art of Humorama is a digital PDF collection of classic 1950s and 1960s pin-up cartoons from the legendary Humorama digest series. Edited by Alex Chun and designed by Jacob Covey, this edition gathers work from a wide range of cartoonists. The file is available for instant download after purchase.
Fantagraphics Books published this collection as a fifth volume in its popular pin-up series. It draws from private collections and thousands of Humorama digests. Readers can enjoy the artwork in a period-accurate two-color format that matches the original magazines.
Book Overview
The Pin-Up Art of Humorama samples the full line of creators who contributed to the Humorama digests. Alongside regular artists Dan DeCarlo, Bill Wenzel, and Bill Ward, the book includes work by Playboy’s Jack Cole and Italian artist Kremos. Other contributors include Jefferson Machamer, Basil Wolverton, Dave Berg, Bill Hoest, George Crenshaw, and Brad Anderson.
Alex Chun edited the collection, and Jacob Covey handled art direction. The selection includes never-before-reprinted pieces from DeCarlo, Wenzel, and Ward. Howard Chaykin contributed the foreword, and Alex Chun wrote the introduction.

Why This Book Matters
The Humorama digests were a well-known source of cheesecake cartoons and single-panel humor in the mid-twentieth century. Publisher Abe Goodman produced scores of these digest-sized magazines during the 1950s. This collection preserves that playful style for modern readers and connects major cartoonists from Archie Comics, Playboy, MAD, and syndicated newspaper strips.
